One of the most important goals that has always guided M**Bun’s choices is to leave the world cleaner and better than we found it. It is a philosophy that requires a daily commitment, from the selection of suppliers, who must meet certain quality and environmental responsibility requirements, to the management of restaurants and the choice of packaging.
Unfortunately, we live in a world where plastic food containers and packaging are still widespread, but for everyone’s health and the protection of the environment, it is necessary to find environmentally sustainable alternatives that will help significantly reduce the amount of plastic and non-recyclable waste.

M**Bun does not want to be yet another fast food restaurant that increases the amount of garbage in landfills, and since the beginning of its history it has always felt it was important to take all possible precautions to limit the environmental impact of its packaging, to build a fairer world, and to offer only good, healthy, and excellent quality food in all respects.
In 2009, when the use of biodegradable packaging was not yet so widespread, M**Bun decided that its containers, plates, glasses and cutlery, used for serving the public, should necessarily be made of compostable and disposable material, to ensure maximum hygiene and respect for the environment. Waste reduction at every stage of production and separate waste collection have become the cornerstones of a new way of catering, with more attention to the environment and quality of life.

In the meantime, new materials have emerged that are increasingly environmentally friendly, and customers’ concern for environmental protection is growing. In fact, those who choose M**Bun today do so first and foremost because of the quality of the products offered, but also because they perfectly adhere to the company’s values from an environmental perspective.
Gradually, plastic packaging has been replaced by materials such as glass and aluminum, which can be recycled and reused indefinitely, significantly reducing the impact on nature.

Quality, zero-mile products in environmentally friendly and recyclable packaging

Among the many companies in the market, M**Bun has decided to rely only on a small number of suppliers who can demonstrate the sustainability of their processes, continuously and consistently checking that requirements are met and the best production technologies are applied.

For its burgers, M**Bun wanted to distinguish itself from other fast food restaurants in town by selecting meats from local farms and a guaranteed short supply chain. In fact, M**Bun was born from the fusion of the experience of Francesco Bianco, an entrepreneur with many years of experience in packaging and catering, and Graziano Scaglia and Paola Pellichero of Azienda Agricola Scaglia in Rivoli (TO), from which the meat served by M**Bun comes. Azienda Agricola Scaglia stands out for its farming system that puts animal welfare at the center by feeding them with zero-mile forage and providing ample adequate space. No less important is the company’s move toward renewable energy and compostable packaging used in the butcher shop.
In M**Bun restaurants, St. Bernard water cans have taken the place of the classic plastic bottles that are so popular but notoriously harmful to the environment. The aluminum ensures maximum protection of the product and the preservation of all the organoleptic characteristics of this particularly light, pleasant water suitable for all palates.

The San Bernardo company, whose factories are located in Garessio and Ormea in the province of Cuneo, also supplies soft drinks, such as chinotto, gazzosa and tonic water in glass bottles, all of which are certified organic and produced without preservatives, dyes and sweeteners, but only with organically grown fruit and cane sugar.
The fact that the Garessio plant is powered by wind energy also played a significant role in the choice of San Bernardo. Here, too, the criteria that M**Bun applies to all suppliers are met, in order to guarantee customers the highest quality in a sustainable and responsible way.

As for the supply chain, which must be as zero kilometer as possible, the choice has been made to serve Molecola, a cola born from an all-Turin idea and produced between Fidenza and Ormea, using only natural mineral water from certified sources, sugar from Italian farms and natural flavors selected and blended by the only Italian flavoring maker, Giotti, who with cutting-edge technology and creativity ensures a product of the highest quality. In addition, from 2019 the Molecola range is plastic free with cans and glass bottles to ensure maximum sustainability.
Of course, to satisfy every customer’s request, there is no shortage of wines served in bulk or by the glass and craft beers, always sourced from wineries and breweries that are as zero-mile as possible, with controlled and environmentally friendly production processes.

The attention to packaging does not stop with the selection of raw materials or beverages. In fact, all in-restaurant, take-away or home-delivered menus are carefully packaged only in biodegradable and essential packaging to minimize environmental impact and always ensure the unmistakable taste and texture of M**Bun products.
M**Bun’s philosophy, where the environment always comes first in all business decisions, is fully respected and appreciated by customers who choose this slow fast food restaurant not only for the very high quality of its meats and dishes, but above all for the values that are transmitted daily including respect for nature, the environment and people, to return to future generations a healthier, cleaner world totally free of plastic packaging.
